Vegetarian and Vegan Restaurants in Phoenix

The vegetarian restaurants in Phoenix that we’ve verified number nine, and seven of them are fully vegan. If you eat vegan, you have plenty of choices. If you eat vegetarian and share a table with meat eaters, you have fewer. This page sorts out which part of the Valley has what, so you can pick a spot before you drive.

Vegetarian restaurants in Phoenix license plate graphic

We list eight independent restaurants and one local chain. Our editors checked open status and menu details on each, and every profile carries a September 2026 “last verified” date. Confirm hours before a long drive. Phoenix is spread out, and a wasted trip costs you time.

Vegetarian restaurants in Phoenix by tier

We rate every restaurant on a five-tier scale. The Phoenix area lands in only three of the five.

Two gaps stand out. We haven’t found a fully vegetarian restaurant that serves dairy and eggs, and nothing sits in the lowest tier. So Phoenix gives you the two extremes and little in between. Both mixed-menu places sit on the same road.

McDowell Road: the mixed-table stretch

East McDowell Road is where Phoenix does best for groups with different diets. Kare Ethiopian sits at 4729 E McDowell. A Vegan Combo for one runs $20, and the group version feeds three for $37.99. One person orders from the Vegan Dish list, another orders from the Meat Dish list, and nobody has to ask the server about ghee. Get the misir wot, a red lentil stew, with injera.

A few blocks away, Indian Delhi Palace has held 5104 E McDowell since 1985, when it opened as Arizona’s first Indian restaurant. The menu flags no dish, so you read ingredient lists. Chana masala, daal maharani, and malai kofta all stand up as full meals. The doors open daily at 11:30 a.m., and the lunch buffet costs $8.95.

Keep going east and the same road crosses into Scottsdale. UNiQ Burger is at 7730 E McDowell, suite 108-B, in a shopping center. Everything on the menu is vegan: smash burgers, crispy chick’n sandwiches, and loaded fries. Phoenix New Times named it Best Vegan Burger in 2025. One diner paid about $25 for a burger, fries, and a dipping sauce, so budget like a sit-down meal.

Central Phoenix: the Coronado district and Grand Avenue

The Coronado anchors the Coronado Historic District at 2245 N 12th St. The kitchen went fully plant-based in December 2020. Reviewers mention the cauliflower tacos more than any other dish. You’ll also find a full bar and a dog-friendly patio. Plan around a short week: closed Monday and Tuesday, and Thursday and Friday end at 2 p.m.

On the Grand Avenue arts corridor, Earth Plant Based Cuisine makes vegan Mexican food at 1325 Grand Ave. Get the birria tacos with a side of consome. Check the day first, though. The birria runs Tuesday through Thursday from noon and Friday through Sunday from 1 p.m. Street parking tightens during First Fridays, the monthly art walk.

Outside our eight independents, Green New American Vegetarian is a two-location local chain with spots in Phoenix and Tempe. The Phoenix kitchen sits at 2022 N 7th St and cooks all-vegan comfort food, from buffalo wings to cheesesteaks. Most plates run $9 to $16, which makes it one of the cheaper full meals on this list.

North Phoenix: Moon Valley

Vegan & Vine is a family-owned cafe, wine bar, and market at 502 E Thunderbird Rd. Weekend brunch runs 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., with a vegan chicken fried steak and chilaquiles made with tofu scramble. Dogs are welcome on the shaded patio. We have no other listing this far north. Its posted hours cover all seven days, but some listings show it closed Monday, so call first.

Gilbert: two all-vegan counters

Two of our eight independents are in Gilbert, in the southeast Valley. Green Lotus Vegan serves Vietnamese food with Thai touches at 835 N Gilbert Rd. Order the fresh spring rolls and a coconut curry with tofu over rice. You order at the counter, and the kitchen runs daily from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Seed Shack is at 3861 E Baseline Rd. Two sisters run it, and the menu mixes burgers with Asian-leaning tacos. Burgers run $13 to $19. It’s closed Monday and closes at 4 p.m. on Sunday, so Tuesday through Saturday gives you the most room.

What a visitor should know

  • Monday is thin. Kare, The Coronado, Earth, UNiQ Burger, and Seed Shack all close on Monday. Green Lotus Vegan, Indian Delhi Palace, and Green New American stay open. Call Vegan & Vine before you go.
  • Vegan doesn’t mean allergen-free. All-vegan kitchens rule out meat, eggs, and dairy products. Seed Shack and Green New American both say they can’t guarantee against cross-contact between wheat, soy, peanuts, and tree nuts. Earth runs one fryer and grill for its whole menu, so call ahead if you have celiac disease. You can check current hours on Earth’s website and Seed Shack’s website.
  • You need a car. The list spans Phoenix, Scottsdale, and Gilbert. Group your stops by area, as above, rather than planning a day across all of them.
  • Coverage is uneven. We have no independent listings yet in Tempe or Mesa, and we keep adding restaurants. The full Phoenix listing shows everything we’ve verified so far.
