Spiral Diner & Bakery is a fully vegan comfort-food restaurant on Fort Worth’s Magnolia Avenue, open since 2002. Order the Spiral Burger, a cashew-quinoa patty on a buttered sesame bun, or go bigger with the Big Kahuna Burger or the Triple Double, the priciest burger on the menu at $31.99. Breakfast runs all day and includes cinnamon roll pancakes, a Seitan Breakfast Quesadilla, and the Southern Comfort platter, dishes regulars call out by name in reviews. For sharing, try the Buffalo Chik’n Nachos or a plate of Frito Pie. On weekends, Dreamboat Donuts sets up inside and sells out fast. Save room for a shake anyway. Biscoff Cookie Butter and Strawberry Cheesecake are the flavors people drive across town for. A rotating Blue Plate Special adds seasonal dishes like a Watermelon Ahi Poke Bowl or the Island Babe Plate, so the menu doesn’t sit still.

Every item on the menu is vegan, so there’s no hunting for the one safe dish or asking the kitchen to hold the cheese. The “bacon,” the cheese sauce, and the burger patties are all plant-based by default. Because the kitchen never touches animal products, cross-contact isn’t a concern here the way it is at a restaurant that only marks a handful of dishes on an otherwise standard menu. Staff field substitution and allergen questions all day, since that’s the only kind of cooking the place does.

Worth knowing before you go: this used to be a three-location operation, with sister restaurants in Dallas and Denton alongside Fort Worth. Both of those closed within the past several years. Spiral’s own website addresses it directly, saying those locations are now part of Spiral history while Fort Worth is still home. Functionally, that makes this a single-location, independent restaurant today, even though it grew out of a small regional chain.

Prices sit in normal diner territory with a few splurges layered in. Sandwiches, burgers, and breakfast plates mostly run $13 to $20, and hot plates like Hell’s Half Acre climb closer to $20. Nacho platters top out around $19. Shakes run $10 to $12, which one reviewer called pricey for the portion, but that’s a minor complaint against more than a thousand reviews on Yelp, most of them positive. A full bar backs up the diner menu too, with Texas craft beer, margaritas, and bottomless mimosas, so it works as well for a boozy weekend brunch as it does for a quiet weekday lunch. Burgers and salads can swap in an Impossible meat upgrade instead of the house cashew-quinoa patty, so the menu covers strict vegans and Impossible-curious eaters alike. Families, mixed groups of vegans and omnivores, and solo diners at the counter all fit here. Seating is casual counter-and-table service and reservations aren’t needed, though Friday and Saturday mornings draw a wait.

Hours run Tuesday through Thursday, 9am to 9pm, Friday and Saturday, 8am to 10pm, and Sunday, 8am to 8pm. Monday is the one day it’s closed. A March 2026 review praised the to-go service as patient and knowledgeable, and Yelp’s page was still updating current photos and reviews as of July 2026, so this isn’t a listing running on stale data. Twenty-four years in, Spiral Diner is one of the rare Texas restaurants that never had to carve out a vegan section of the menu. The whole menu already is one.
