Dieu Huong is a fully vegetarian Vietnamese restaurant tucked inside the Eden Center in Falls Church, the “Little Vietnam” shopping plaza that’s the region’s real center of gravity for Vietnamese food. It used to run as Thanh Van, same address, same family of dishes, new name. Every item on the menu is meat-free, rooted in the Buddhist vegetarian tradition that treats plant-based eating as the default, not the exception.

Order the pho. Reviewers consistently call it out as some of the best vegetarian pho in the DC area, built on a broth that does the actual work instead of leaning on toppings to distract you. Beyond the pho, the kitchen works in tofu, tempeh, and seitan, built into faux-meat versions of Vietnamese classics, including seafood-style preparations. If you grew up on a dish that once involved shrimp or pork, there’s a real chance it’s been rebuilt here. A spicy noodle soup and a crunchy noodle dish both come up often in recent visitor accounts. Portions run generous, not restaurant-sample-sized.

The kitchen is vegetarian only. No meat or fish prepared anywhere on site. The faux meats haven’t been confirmed dairy- and egg-free though, so a strict vegan should ask before ordering rather than assume. That’s the one honest caveat here. Everything else is built around plant-based eating as a philosophy, not a marketing angle.

The name change from Thanh Van to Dieu Huong happened at the same address, under what appears to be the same ownership and the same food. Worth flagging, because a chunk of the reviews and listings you’ll find searching around still use the old name. If you grew up going to Thanh Van, this is that restaurant. It’s open Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday, 8:30am to 7pm. Closed Thursdays. Recent visitor reports put weekend hours in roughly the same window, 8:30am to 7:30pm Saturday and Sunday, though that’s not confirmed on the restaurant’s own site. Call ahead if you’re planning a weekend trip around it. It’s cash only, easy to forget until you’re standing at the register.

Finding it is its own small adventure. Dieu Huong sits inside Eden Center’s shopping arcade rather than facing the parking lot. You’ll walk past a jewelry stall and a couple of grocers before you find the entrance. That’s part of what makes it feel like a discovery instead of a chain stop.

Eden Center itself is worth the trip on its own merits: dozens of Vietnamese shops and restaurants clustered around a courtyard with a clock tower that’s become a real landmark for the DC area’s Vietnamese community. Dieu Huong is the one stall in that whole plaza where a vegetarian doesn’t have to scan the menu looking for the safe dish. Every dish is the safe dish.
