Vegetarian and Vegan Restaurants in Los Angeles

The vegetarian restaurants in Los Angeles that we’ve verified number nine independents, and three of them are fully vegan. Two more are fully vegetarian kitchens. The last four serve meat but label their vegetarian or vegan dishes. You won’t find a clean map here. The spots sit in Echo Park, Los Feliz, Melrose, Culver City, the Valley, Burbank, Montrose, and Brea in Orange County. This page sorts them by area, so you can pick a stretch of the city and stay in it.

Our editors checked open status, hours, and menus on each profile between June and August 2026. Hours change, so confirm before a long drive. Los Angeles traffic punishes a wasted trip.

Vegetarian restaurants in Los Angeles by tier

We rate every restaurant on a five-tier scale. These nine land in three of the five.

Nothing sits in the vegetarian-friendly or less-friendly tiers yet. Los Angeles has plenty of ordinary restaurants with one veggie entree, and we haven’t verified them. For now, we list the places where you won’t have to guess.

Echo Park and Los Feliz: pizza and Thai pancakes

Masa of Echo Park at 1800 Sunset Blvd has made Chicago deep dish since 2004. A separate “For Our Vegan Friends” section runs alongside the regular menu. Build your own Vegan Echo Park pizza with Teese mozzarella from $18, or get a three-topping vegan deep dish for around $30. The same kitchen cooks meat and dairy pies, and Masa’s website doesn’t say whether the vegan pies get separate prep. Call ahead if cross-contact matters. Masa closes Monday and opens at 5 p.m. on Tuesday.

A few miles northwest, Green Leaves Vegan sits at 1769 Hillhurst Ave in Los Feliz. The owners opened it in 2006, and the menu runs to more than 100 items, from Thai curries to breakfast burritos. Regulars come back for the tropical pancakes. You order at the counter, daily from 11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m., and most appetizers cost under $11. Parking on Hillhurst gets tight at dinner.

Melrose: the special-occasion pick

Crossroads Kitchen at 8284 Melrose Ave is the splurge. Chef Tal Ronnen opened it in 2013, and VegNews named it Best Vegan Restaurant in America in 2024. The menu is Mediterranean, with house pasta, wood-fired pizza, and a Grilled Lion’s Mane Steak. Plan on $60 to $90 a person with drinks, and reserve on OpenTable. Lunch and weekend brunch cost less and book more easily. Crossroads says its gluten-free dishes may share a cooking area or fryer with gluten, so celiacs should call first.

Culver City: two vegetarian kitchens, side by side

Culver City is the one stretch where you can eat at two fully vegetarian places in the same afternoon. Cali Saga at 9609 Venice Blvd serves North Indian food. The Dal Tadka, Chana Masala, and Aloo Gobi carry vegan labels, while the Saag Paneer and Paneer Tikka Masala use cheese. You can eat there daily, with a break between 3 p.m. and 4:30 p.m.

Govinda’s Natural Food Cafe is the ISKCON temple kitchen at 3764 Watseka Ave. Its cooks make an $8 all-you-can-eat buffet with no meat, fish, eggs, onion, or garlic. The line changes daily, and some dishes use ghee or paneer, so strict vegans should ask. Govinda’s serves lunch only, from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. At $8, it’s one of the cheapest full meals on the Westside.

The Valley, Burbank, and Montrose

Lotus Vegan at 4715 Lankershim Blvd in North Hollywood has served all-vegan Thai and American food since 2007. Get the orange chicken or the hot wings, then the banana beignets with coconut ice cream. Most entrees run under $16. Lotus closes Monday and serves dinner only on Tuesday.

Acai Jungle at 326 N Victory Blvd in Burbank builds its menu on acai bowls ($6 to $12), cashew-based shakes, and salads. Only the sandwich section and one rice bowl bring in chicken, fish, or egg. Treat it as a snack and light-lunch stop, open daily 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Farther north, Toasted at 2420 Honolulu Ave in Montrose is a brunch cafe that labels its vegan dishes: an Avocado Toast, a Vegan BLTA, a Za’atar sandwich, and two salads. The Breakfast Caprese is vegetarian, not vegan. It’s a good compromise for a mixed table, since the menu also has pastrami and tuna. Plates run $12 to $28.

Brea, in Orange County

Fratellino’s at 600 S Brea Blvd is the one listing outside Los Angeles County. The menu names a Vegetarian Sandwich and a Vegetarian Pizza, and you’ll also find a Vegetable Lasagna and an Eggplant Parmigiana. Nearly everything leans on cheese, so vegans have little to choose from. Hours run Monday through Saturday 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday until 8:30 p.m.

Chains we list but don’t count

Our independent count leaves out chains. They’re still worth knowing: Gracias Madre (all-vegan Mexican on Melrose), The Butcher’s Daughter (vegetarian brunch on Abbot Kinney in Venice), Monty’s Good Burger (vegan burgers in Echo Park), My Vegan (vegan Thai in Pasadena), and Samosa House, a family of three vegetarian Indian counters that includes one on Washington Blvd in Culver City.

What a visitor should know

  • Monday is thin. Masa and Lotus Vegan close on Monday, and Toasted shuts at 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday. Green Leaves, Crossroads, Cali Saga, Govinda’s, Acai Jungle, and Fratellino’s stay open.
  • Vegan doesn’t mean gluten-free. Crossroads warns that its gluten-free dishes may share a fryer. Green Leaves isn’t a dedicated gluten-free kitchen. Lotus Vegan builds many of its proteins on wheat gluten. Check Crossroads’ site or Lotus Vegan’s site for current menus.
  • Group by area. Cali Saga and Govinda’s pair well in Culver City. Masa and Green Leaves fit one trip across Echo Park and Los Feliz. Don’t try the Valley and the Westside in one day.
  • Coverage has holes. We have no independent listings yet in Long Beach, Santa Monica, or most of the South Bay, and we keep adding restaurants. The full Los Angeles listing shows everything we’ve verified so far.
