Luna Grill: What’s Vegetarian Editorial Review
Luna Grill gives vegetarians real choices, not a sad side salad. The Falafel Plate, the Veggie Kabob Plate, and the vegan Luna Vida Bowl all work at this Greek and Persian fast-casual chain, and most of the salads convert to vegan with one or two easy swaps. Everything here is cooked over an open flame, which is part of why Luna Grill gets compared to Mediterranean sit-down spots more than typical fast food.
What to order at Luna Grill
The Falafel Plate is the headline order: five rounds of handcrafted falafel with basmati rice, pita, and tahini sauce, vegan as long as you pick a vegan sauce. The Veggie Kabob Plate covers grilled mushroom, squash, onion, and pepper, cooked over the same open flame as the rest of the menu, and the Luna Vida Vegan Bowl is built vegan from the start with falafel, chickpea salad, and vegetables. Hummus, Spicy Harissa Hummus, and Stuffed Grape Leaves round out the list, and even the Beyond Burger works here if you order it without cheese.
What to watch out for
Most of the salads need one tweak to go vegan. The Modern Greek Salad, Mediterranean Salad, and Apple Walnut Salad all default to feta or gorgonzola, so ask for them without cheese. Tzatziki Sauce has dairy and Chipotle Sauce has egg, so check your sauce before you order a plate that comes with one automatically. Baklava isn’t vegan, since it’s built on butter and honey.
