Jersey Mike’s: What’s Vegetarian Editorial Review

Jersey Mike’s works well if you’re vegetarian, even though this is a meat-forward sub shop built around cold cuts and hot subs. You get one dedicated meatless sandwich, the #14 The Veggie, plus a build-your-own path at the cold-topping bar that covers salads and wraps too. There’s no Beyond or Impossible deli meat and no separate vegan menu, but the basics hold up well enough for a real meal.

What to order at Jersey Mike’s

The #14 The Veggie is the flagship pick: provolone and Swiss cheese, green bell pepper, lettuce, tomato, and onion, finished Mike’s Way with the chain’s red wine vinegar and olive oil blend. You can also build your own cheese and veggie sub, order any sandwich as a Sub in a Tub salad instead of on bread, or choose one of the wraps in white, wheat, garlic herb, spinach herb, or tomato basil. Add avocado or guacamole to any of these for extra substance.

What to watch out for

Going vegan takes real work here. Skipping cheese and choosing vegan bread gets you close, but several breads carry an undisclosed-enzyme caveat, and the wheat bread loaf contains honey while the gluten-free bread contains egg. The Grilled Portabella Mushroom sub that used to cover this gap was discontinued chain-wide in October 2025, so build-your-own is now your only route to a hot vegetarian option. Chips vary by bag, and some contain milk, so check the bag before you grab one, and skip the cookies and brownies if you’re avoiding dairy and egg.
