Looking for Bar Louie vegetarian options? You’ll find a handful of meatless dips, flatbreads and desserts, plus an Impossible Burger swap on the craft burgers. Bar Louie doesn’t label any dish vegetarian, so we read each menu description and flag what the chain doesn’t say. Our homepage, what about the vegetarians, explains how we build these guides.

A Quick Look at Bar Louie
Bar Louie is a bar and restaurant chain founded in 1990, and Wikipedia lists its headquarters in Addison, Texas. It’s a bar first. The menu leans on wings, burgers, flatbreads and shareable plates, with cocktails and sangria next to them.
The chain has had a rough few years. It filed for bankruptcy in January 2020 and closed 38 locations, per Wikipedia. In March 2025 it filed for Chapter 11 again, and FSR Magazine counted 48 restaurants left, 31 corporate and 17 franchised. In October 2025 Sun Holdings bought the chain out of bankruptcy through its affiliate Louie Restaurants. Sun Holdings says it now has 39 U.S. locations. At its 2019 peak, the chain ran 134 restaurants.
Technomic estimates Bar Louie’s 2024 U.S. sales at $170 million across 60 units, according to its Restaurant Business Top 500 entry. With that many closures, check that your nearest location is still open before you go.
Bar Louie Vegetarian Options: What to Order

Every dish in this table lists no meat in its menu description. Bar Louie’s site gives descriptions for most of the menu but no ingredient list and no allergen chart, so the table can only judge what the menu prints. A ✅ means the description lists no meat or fish. The vegan column stays conservative.

Cheese is the catch. Bar Louie doesn’t say what kind of rennet its cheeses use, so strict vegetarians should read every ✅ above with that in mind.
Bar Bites and Shareables
Bar Bites hold most of the meatless picks. The Black Bean Hummus comes with black bean salsa, jalapeno, tortilla chips, toasted chile lime pita, cucumbers, celery and tomatoes. That’s the lightest dish on the section. The Spinach & Artichoke Dip, the Trio Dips & Chips and the Bruschetta round out a table of shareables.
The Bavarian Pretzels arrive with garlic butter, salt, green onions and beer cheese. The Fried Cheese Curds come with tomato sauce, roasted jalapeno ranch and parmesan. The Hand-Battered Fried Pickles come with roasted jalapeno ranch. The menu lists no meat in any of them.
Skip the Loaded Tots, which list applewood smoked bacon. Chicken Nachos, the Chicken Quesadilla, the Spicy Chicken Fundido, the sliders and the wings all carry meat or fish.
Flatbreads
Two of the five flatbreads list no meat. The Margherita lists garlic butter, parmesan, mozzarella, provolone, roasted grape tomatoes, roasted garlic and house-made basil pesto. The Truffle Mushroom & Asparagus lists spinach cream sauce, mozzarella, provolone, parmesan, asparagus, mushrooms, roasted tomatoes, artichokes and truffle aioli. The Pepperoni, Buffalo Chicken and Hot Honey Bacon flatbreads are out.
Burgers and Sandwiches
The Craft Burgers section carries one note for every burger: “sub Impossible Burger (less 80 cal).” The page doesn’t say which burgers qualify, so ask your server before you order. The All-Nighter, Bacon Cheddar and Chipotle BBQ list applewood smoked bacon. That leaves Louie’s Cheeseburger, the Mushroom Swiss, the Truffle Crunch, the Chef’s Burger and the Blazin’ Burger as the ones whose descriptions list no meat. Bar Louie doesn’t say what grill the kitchen uses for the Impossible patty, so ask if a shared grill matters to you.
The sandwich section has no meatless entry. The new Bacon & Roasted Tomato Grilled Cheese lists applewood smoked bacon, and the rest of the lineup runs on chicken, cod, sirloin steak, a burger patty or corned beef.
Soups, Salads and Sides
Both soups list their toppings and nothing about the broth. The Creamy Tomato Basil Soup lists house-made croutons and parmesan. The French Onion Soup lists house-made croutons, provolone, parmesan and scallions. Ask whether either one starts from a meat stock.
The salads aren’t much help. The BLT&A Chopped lists bacon, the BBQ Chicken Salad and the Grilled Chicken Caesar list chicken, and the Side House or Caesar Salad gets no description on the menu. The menu doesn’t list the Caesar dressing’s ingredients either, so ask about anchovy.
The Sides page names Asparagus, Roasted Baby Potatoes, Zucchini, House Slaw, Truffle Fries, fries and tots with calories only. Fries and tots are the likeliest meatless picks, so ask what oil the kitchen uses. For the vegetables, ask how the kitchen cooks them.
Desserts
Bar Louie serves three desserts. The Cinnamon Donut Holes are cinnamon sugar dusted with chocolate sauce. The Triple Chocolate Cake lists chocolate cake, Oreo, caramel, chocolate sauce and whipped cream. The Signature Cheesecake features a rotating selection of seasonal flavors, so ask which flavor is on and what’s in it.
Brunch and the Kids Menu
Brunch runs until 3 PM on select days, and the days vary by location. The brunch page names an Avocado Toast but gives no description for it, so confirm the toppings with your server. The Kids Menu lists a Crispy Flatbread Pizza, a Grilled Cheese Sandwich & Fries and Mac & Cheese with calories only, so ask what’s in each one.
What’s Vegan at Bar Louie?
Bar Louie doesn’t publish a vegan menu or any vegan labels. The best starting points are the Black Bean Hummus, which lists no dairy in its description, and an Impossible Burger swap. Both need a conversation with your server, because the menu doesn’t list the bread, the pita, the chips or the cooking fat. The swap changes only the patty, so order the burger without cheese and sauces and ask what goes on the bun.
Skip anything with cheese, cream, butter, whipped cream or aioli in the description. That rules out almost every dip, flatbread and dessert above.
Special Dietary Requirements and Allergies
Bar Louie’s Nutritional Guide (May 2025) lists calories, fat, sodium, carbs and protein for each item. It lists no allergens and no ingredients. That means the chain publishes no way to confirm rennet in its cheeses, animal products in sauces, or what oil the kitchen fries in.
- Meat toppings: bacon sits on several burgers, the Loaded Tots and the new grilled cheese. Ask for them off.
- Soups: the menu doesn’t list the broth for either soup.
- Caesar dressing: the menu doesn’t list the ingredients, so ask about anchovy.
- Eggs: the All-Nighter burger comes with a sunny egg.
- Raw or undercooked food: the menu marks some items with an asterisk and warns that eating raw or undercooked meat, poultry, seafood, shellfish or eggs may raise your risk of foodborne illness.
Tips for Vegetarians at Bar Louie
- Build a meal from Bar Bites. A dip, a flatbread and a side of fries fill a table of vegetarians.
- Ask for the Impossible Burger sub on a burger that lists no bacon, and hold the bacon on any burger you pick.
- Say “no bacon” on anything loaded. The Loaded Tots list it by name.
- Ask your server about the soup broths before you order either soup.
- Ask which cheesecake flavor is on the menu and whether it contains gelatin.
- Call ahead. The menu says some items run only at select locations and times, and brunch days vary.
- Confirm your location is open. The chain closed many restaurants in 2025.
