Green Lotus Vegan: What’s Vegetarian Editorial Review

Green Lotus Vegan runs an entirely plant-based kitchen out of a strip mall at 835 N Gilbert Rd in Gilbert. Nothing here has meat, dairy, or eggs. Order anything without a follow-up question.

Expect Vietnamese food with Thai touches, built around tofu, rice noodles, and rice paper standing in for whatever used to carry the meat. Start with the fresh spring rolls: tofu, carrots, cabbage, mint, and vermicelli rolled in rice paper, served with house peanut sauce. That’s the single most-ordered item on the menu, alongside chow mein and the King Fried Rolls, and it earns the ranking. A la carte entrees come with white rice as the base. For $3.50 more, add soy chicken, soy shrimp, or extra vegetables, a cheap way to turn a rice bowl into a full plate.

The curry section is where the Thai influence shows up hardest. Carrots, potatoes, onions, and bell peppers simmer with tofu in a coconut cream sauce. Not an exact regional dish, more a kitchen borrowing across Southeast Asia and keeping every plate built the same way: protein swapped out, sauce and vegetables doing the real work.

Because the whole kitchen is vegan, there’s no separate meat line to worry about and no need to ask what’s safe. Every pan in the building only ever touches plant-based food. Order the pho with soy beef for the closest thing on the menu to a classic bowl, or go straight for the curry if you’d rather skip noodles. Most dishes lean gluten-friendly by default too, built on rice noodles, rice paper, and white rice instead of wheat. The kitchen doesn’t advertise a formal gluten-free certification, though, so say something if that’s a hard requirement.

Reviews describe it as family-owned, a small operation rather than part of any restaurant group. It has moved locations within Gilbert at least once, landing at the current Suite 106 address. That’s inside a strip mall shared with a handful of other small, independent restaurants, not a standalone building. Ratings since the move run strong, 4.5 to 4.7 stars across DoorDash, Uber Eats, and Grubhub, with regulars calling out the spring rolls by name. Counter service, not a sit-down spot, and the dining room is small. Expect food fast, not a long table wait.

Open daily, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., no midday closure. Plenty of restaurants in a suburb like Gilbert shut down between lunch and dinner. This one doesn’t, so a late lunch or an early dinner both work without checking a clock first. Price runs $$, cheap enough for a weeknight, and delivery is available through the major platforms if you’d rather eat at home.

First visit, order the fresh spring rolls and a curry. Already know Vietnamese food? Try the soy beef pho. Bring a group. The dining room is small, but the kitchen moves fast. Everyone at the table can order off the same menu, no “hold the fish sauce” version required. For one meal, the vegan option isn’t the exception. It’s the entire menu.
