Curry Up Now: What’s Vegetarian Editorial Review

Curry Up Now brought its Bay Area-born Indian street food to Flower Mound in mid-2025, and vegetarians get more than an afterthought here. Order the Hella Vegan Bowl or Hella Vegan Burrito if you want a fully plant-based meal, or go bigger with the Peace.Love.Vegan Thali, a full platter of rice, lentils, and small plates with no animal products anywhere on it. Dairy-eating vegetarians can add paneer to the Naughty Naan, the restaurant’s naan-crust take on a pizza, or order pav bhaji, a spiced vegetable mash served with toasted bread. The Deconstructed Samosa and Chole Bhature ($14 each) also work meat-free, and Daal Makhni turns up across bowls, thalis, and combo plates. Beyond those, the menu runs through kathi rolls, loaded fries, and burritos, so there’s plenty to pick from beyond the headline vegan dishes.

This isn’t a vegetarian restaurant, though. It’s a fast-casual Indian chain built around a halal meat program, and dishes like the Meat Sweats Thali and lamb tacos make that clear. Vegan and vegetarian items get their own names and their own spot on the menu instead of showing up as substitutions, which is more than most Indian spots in the DFW suburbs offer. But everything still comes out of one shared kitchen. Curry Up Now posts an allergen chart at the counter and online, and the company says dietary needs, halal, keto, vegan, and gluten-free, are handled throughout the menu. Online reviews for the chain occasionally mention mix-ups between vegan and meat orders, so ask your server to confirm if cross-contact is a concern.

Yelp reviewers keep coming back to the same handful of dishes. One wrote they love the naan pizza and mini samosas, and others call out the lamb tacos, the thali platters, and the cocktail program from the attached Mortar and Pestle bar. Prices run standard fast-casual: naan and small plates land between $3 and $9, mains and handwiches sit at $12 to $14, and the thali platters top out around $19 for a full spread. That range plus the shareable Naughty Naan makes this an easy pick for mixed groups, a family introducing kids to Indian food, or a casual date night.

The Flower Mound location, at 2717 Cross Timbers Rd, runs dine-in, pickup, and takeout, with no reservations needed since it’s counter service. Hours run 11am to 9:30pm daily, though the bar side may stay open later on weekends. Franchise owners Kiki Khajuria and Samy Kilaru run the day-to-day here, one of more than a dozen Curry Up Now locations spread across states including California, Texas, Georgia, and New Jersey. The brand started as a single San Francisco food truck in 2009 before growing into the national chain Flower Mound now belongs to.

If you’re vegan and cautious about shared kitchens, treat this as a solid option rather than a zero-risk one. There’s no dedicated vegan prep line, and the restaurant cooks meat, dairy, and plant-based dishes side by side. But the menu does more of the work for you than a typical curry house does, with three distinct vegan builds and vegetarian versions of nearly everything else on the board. For a fast, flavorful meal near Flower Mound Town Center that doesn’t make vegetarians order around the edges, Curry Up Now delivers.
