Seven Doors Kitchen & Cocktails: What’s Vegetarian Editorial Review

Seven Doors Kitchen & Cocktails is a modern American grill and sushi spot inside the Grandscape development in The Colony, north of Dallas. It isn’t built around vegetarian cooking. Steaks, prime rib, burgers, and a full raw-fish sushi list dominate the menu. Still, two dishes stand out enough to order as a full vegetarian meal: the Eggplant Rollatini ($19.50), crispy eggplant layered with ricotta, mushroom, and spinach under marinara and provolone, and the Veggie Burger ($16.75), a roasted corn and chickpea patty with white cheddar, lettuce, tomato, and spicy aioli on a brioche bun.

Beyond those two, the vegetarian options widen into starters and sides. Burrata ($18.25) arrives with sunflower seed pesto, balsamic glaze, fire-roasted tomatoes, and grilled ciabatta. Crispy Broccoli and Truffle Fries (both $10.25) work as shareable sides or a light meal paired with a salad. Sushi eaters can order the Avocado Roll ($14.50) or Sweet Potato Roll ($9.95), though both come out of the same kitchen that handles raw tuna and salmon. A Tuscan White Bean Soup ($9.25 cup, $11.25 bowl) and a Pear & Arugula Salad ($13.75) with goat cheese and candied pecans round out the list. Desserts skip meat by default, key lime pie, chocolate mousse, and creme brulee are all safe, easy closers to the meal. None of it is labeled vegetarian on the menu. Symbols next to dish names flag raw ingredients, gluten-free options, and signature dishes, nothing about meat-free status, so you’re reading ingredients yourself or asking your server.

Chef Jacob Quintana runs the kitchen. Husband-and-wife owners Kevin Brown and Dianna Lynn opened the restaurant in June 2020, naming it for a set of French colonial doors salvaged from the 1800s that show up throughout the dining room. Thursday Steak Night, $19.99 for a cut and a pour, gives you a sense of what this kitchen is built around. Vegetarian ordering here means picking a couple of strong dishes off a menu built for meat eaters, not choosing from a dedicated section.

Budget for $$$ per person. Appetizers land between $9 and $24, and entrees run from the $16.75 veggie burger up to a $51.50 prime rib. Happy hour, Monday through Friday from 3 to 6:30pm, drops prices to the $6 to $10 range on select plates, a cheap way to try the Burrata or Crispy Broccoli before committing to dinner. Book ahead through OpenTable, especially on weekends. Grandscape draws heavy foot traffic and this restaurant fills up fast on Friday and Saturday nights. Brunch runs daily until 2pm, and a kids’ menu makes this workable for families, though the kids’ vegetarian options stop at mac and cheese or a grilled cheese sandwich.

Bring a vegetarian to a group dinner here and they’ll eat well without ordering off a list of sides. Go in expecting a steakhouse-and-sushi crowd, order the Eggplant Rollatini or Veggie Burger, and ask the server about shared fryer equipment if cross-contact with meat or fish is a concern. Calamari and chicken tenders fry in the same oil as the broccoli and fries.
