Pizza Ranch: What’s Vegetarian Editorial Review

Pizza Ranch pairs a real vegetarian pizza lineup with a salad bar, which is more than most buffet chains offer. The catch is that the whole concept is built around fried chicken, so a buffet line means shared serving spoons and a shared fryer are part of the deal.

What to order at Pizza Ranch

The Prairie pizza comes loaded with red onion, olives, green peppers, spinach, tomato, and cheese, with no meat involved. The Tuscan Roma Pizza, built on spinach and Alfredo sauce, is another vegetarian pick, though the cream-based Alfredo keeps it off the vegan list. Build-your-own veggie pizza works too, and it goes vegan if you skip the cheese. The gluten-free crust is vegan as published, with no dairy, egg, or honey in the ingredients. Round out a plate with the Garden Salad, corn, green beans, or breadsticks.

What to watch out for at Pizza Ranch

French Fries and Potato Wedges share a fryer with the chicken, so they’re not a safe vegan pick even though the ingredients themselves are meat-free. The Honey Hot Sauce and Mashed Potatoes and Gravy are both off the table, the first for honey and the second because the gravy is likely meat-based. Several sauces, including the Sweet Chili, Garlic Butter, and Original Pizza Sauce, haven’t published ingredients, so ask before you assume they’re vegan.
