Braum’s
Less Vegetarian-Friendly

Braum's is a strong stop for ice cream but a thin one for vegetarian food, since the grill side runs almost entirely on beef and chicken.

Braum’s: What’s Vegetarian Editorial Review

Braum’s is honest about being a dairy and ice cream chain first. The ice cream case is the real strength here, but the food side leans hard on beef and chicken, and there’s no veggie patty, no plant-based option, and not even a plain grilled cheese sandwich on the current menu.

What to order at Braum’s

The Garden Salad without chicken is close to the only real food option, and even that needs you to ask for no cheese, croutons, or dressing if you’re avoiding dairy and eggs. Beyond that, this is an ice cream stop. Most flavors, including Vanilla, Butter Pecan, and Cookies ‘n’ Cream, are vegetarian, and the Cinnamon Roll and Fruit & Yogurt Swirl work too if dairy isn’t a concern.

What to watch out for at Braum’s

Every burger at Braum’s, from the basic Cheeseburger to the Four Cheese Burger, runs on a beef patty, and the Grilled Chicken Sandwich and Club are off the table too. Hash Browns and Onion Rings are both breaded, and Braum’s hasn’t confirmed whether they share fryer oil with breaded chicken, so ask before ordering if that matters to you. Rocky Road and other marshmallow flavors contain gelatin, which rules them out even though they look like a safe dessert pick. Sherbet is vegetarian but not vegan either, since it’s made with milk despite the fruity name.
