ampm: What’s Vegetarian Editorial Review

ampm isn’t built around meat-free eating, but its hot case and bakery give vegetarians a few real choices beyond a bag of chips. The Veggie Adobo Burrito is the standout, the only burrito on the lineup that isn’t built around meat. Pair that with the bakery case and you’ve got a workable stop on a road trip.

What to order at ampm

The Veggie Adobo Burrito is built with black and pinto beans, red and green bell peppers, corn, potatoes, and three cheeses, seasoned with chipotle, ask for no cheese if you want it vegan. The Four-Cheese Personal Pizza is a solid backup, and the bakery case covers freshly baked cookies and croissants, both made with real butter. Coffee, cold brew, fountain drinks, and Freeze frozen drinks are all safe if you just want something to sip.

What to watch out for

The rotating hot case taquitos need a filling check every time, since what’s inside changes. Sour gummy belts and gummy bears typically contain gelatin, so don’t assume candy at the register is vegetarian. The standard breakfast sandwich comes built with meat by default, so you’ll need to ask for no sausage or bacon, and it still carries egg and cheese either way. Everything built around beef, chicken, or chorizo, the hot dogs, cheeseburgers, and rib sandwich included, is off the table.
