Mountain Mike’s Pizza: What’s Vegetarian Editorial Review

Mountain Mike’s Pizza is in good shape for vegetarians. This build-your-own pizza chain with a sit-down salad bar makes a meat-free meal easy once you know which pies and sauces to pick.

What to order at Mountain Mike’s Pizza

The Mt. Veggiemore piles mushrooms, black olives, bell peppers, artichoke hearts, and fresh tomatoes over red sauce and cheese, and the Vegetarian Spicy Himalayan swaps in a Tikka Masala sauce with mushrooms, onions, and jalapenos. If you’d rather build your own, start with a traditional, thin, or gluten-free crust and stack on vegetable toppings like mushrooms, black olives, bell peppers, onions, fresh tomatoes, artichoke hearts, jalapenos, and pineapple. Ask for Daiya vegan cheese where it’s offered, and hit the Garden Salad or Create Your Own Salad for something lighter.

What to watch out for

The creamy garlic sauce and the standard pizza cheese blend are both made with dairy, so ask for red sauce and Daiya cheese if you want a pie to actually be vegan. Garlic Not-Knots, mozzarella sticks, and the cinnamon dessert pizza all lean on butter and cheese too. Skip the New Greek Salad unless you ask to hold the feta, and treat Mountain Fries as a check since they share a fryer. The Loaded Mountain Fries and every wing flavor are off the table for vegetarians, since both carry meat.
