Wawa: What’s Vegetarian Editorial Review
Wawa’s touchscreen build-your-own system makes it one of the more reliable convenience stores for vegetarians, since you control every layer of your hoagie, bowl, or quesadilla before it’s made. Wawa runs the Built-to-Order system across breakfast, hoagies, bowls, salads, sides, and snacks, so you can build a full meal or grab something quick.
What to order at Wawa
The Veggie Hoagie is the headliner. Pick your size and bread, then load it with lettuce, tomato, cucumber, peppers, red onion, spinach, avocado, jalapeños, and roasted veggies, with or without provolone or American cheese. The Fajita Veggie quesadilla or wrap, a Rice & Beans Burrito or Fajita Veggie Burrito Bowl, and a Beyond Sausage Sizzli or hoagie all work too. Round it out with a soft pretzel, hashbrowns, rice and black beans, or a fruit cup, and order coffee, a latte, or a Refresher with oat, soy, or almond milk.
What to watch out for
Cheese hoagies, quesadillas, and Mac & Cheese all carry dairy, so skip the cheese if you want vegan. The Garden Salad comes with feta and a hard-boiled egg by default, and the Egg & Cheese Sizzli is a nonstarter for vegans. Soups rotate by day and usually contain dairy, so check before ordering. For the Beyond Sausage Sizzli, ask for it without egg and cheese, and choose oil and vinegar, hummus, or avocado over a butter or oil blend to keep the hoagie vegan.
