Domino’s: What’s Vegetarian Editorial Review

Domino’s biggest advantage for vegetarians is that pizza is built to order, so you walk in with a real main rather than scraping by on a side. The catch is that Domino’s US menu has no vegan cheese and no plant-based meat, and most of its crusts hide dairy in the dough. Domino’s runs roughly 7,090 US stores and more than 21,000 worldwide, publicly traded on the NYSE, so this build-your-own approach holds up at a genuinely large scale, not as a boutique exception.

What to order at Domino’s

Cheese Pizza is vegetarian on any crust, and Domino’s mozzarella is widely reported to use microbial, non-animal rennet. For vegans, build a pizza with veggies and no cheese on Thin Crust, the best available option, and load up on mushrooms, onions, peppers, olives, spinach, and tomato. The Robust Inspired Tomato Sauce and the plain or BBQ marinara dips are both vegan.

What to watch out for

Hand Tossed, Handmade Pan, and NY Style crusts all contain whey, so they’re vegetarian but not vegan, and the Gluten Free Crust contains honey. Alfredo, Ranch, and Garlic Parmesan sauces all contain milk, and the Stuffed Cheesy Bread has both dairy and egg. Since the system is heavily franchised, recipes and prep can vary a little by location, so confirm specifics if you’re strict about ingredients.
